At the GreenBiz Forum Thursday in Scottsdale, Ariz., Microsoft will join others in launching the Natural Capital Business Hub, an online, open and dynamic platform that will facilitate collaboration between diverse companies on natural capital issues such as environmental sustainability.
As the Microsoft Green Blog reports, the Business Hub will help choose "appropriate action targets, frameworks and tools to incorporate into their decision making, benchmarking against other companies and evolving best practices.” The Business Hub will also help identify “high impact partners and projects for collaboration and collective action.”
The Business Hub will help these companies evaluate natural capital issues and make the internal business case for action, as well as help them learn from company case studies and find peers to obtain or offer help and advice.
Microsoft will join more than 40 leading companies in the Business Hub, including Disney, Coca-Cola and Dell. With this collective brain power, the Hub will drive “scalable restoration and protection of natural systems that are vital to sustainable business and economic success” forward.
Microsoft’s contributions to the Business Hub include three case studies focused on Microsoft’s internal carbon fee, ecosystem modeling and using information technologyto identify ways to conserve the greatest number of plant species by protecting small landmasses.
