You might have noticed that in the past year, Bing has broken out of the search box like Kool-Aid Man smashing through your wall to bring you refreshments. (Don’t worry, he’ll fix that later.) Sure, people still prefer Bing over Google for the world’s top searches, but in 2013 Bing also evolved to power a wider range of services and devices than ever, from voice search in Xbox One to Siri’s Web search results.
Here are a few of our favorite ways Bing is helping you do more:
Smart Search in Windows 8.1
You’ll now find the best of the Bing search experience in Windows 8.1, where you can use the Search Charm to explore your files, Web results and more with a single query.
Voice search on Xbox One
Bing has made huge strides in voice recognition using Deep Neural Networks (DNN) technology that’s inspired by the way neurons in your brain work. One of the best places to see those advances in action is using voice search on Xbox One. It’s science fiction made real.
Bing for developers
Third-party developers can now benefit from Bing technology, including optical character recognition, translation, maps and voice controls, using the new Bing Developer Center.
Cool stuff, right? If Kool-Aid Man was here with us, I know he’d chime in with a hearty “Oh yeah!” Read more highlights from the year Bing broke out of the search box on the Bing Blog.
