I wanted to bring the following day to your attention. If you are still running Windows XP and are daunted by the thought of an upgrade / migration, we have just the thing for you.

Premier are running a 1 day education event for customers who are planning their XP client and user migration. We have PFE, ADM and MCS presenters who are delivering a real World view of what works, what doesn’t and how to remove the fear and risk from XP migration plans.

The event takes place on the 17th June, if you are interested please contact this page and or preferably contact your TAM (technical account manager).

Overview

This event is aimed at IT professionals responsible for the migration of the end user estate. We will discuss the technology and approach to successful user platforms transformation, highlighting our field experience made up of hundreds of Windows XP, 7, & 8 SME and enterprise deliveries.

We will examine the core elements of client migration, and what causes unnecessary disruption, delay and cost.

Whilst discussing the technical elements of each, we aim to offer a clear positioning of the technologies and best practice for their consumption.

How the Offering Works

The day will consist of speaker lead presentations by experienced Microsoft subject matter experts, covering the key areas of client migration. Our deliverable is the distillation of field experience and the common areas that negatively impact customers, in turn discussing how to go about avoiding such issues.

There will be break out areas and a relaxed environment where we look forward to hosting discussion and Q&A.

Who will be delivering?

Our speakers will consist of Premier Field Engineers from the core platforms team and Customer Technical Support. All are experienced engineers who work delivering level 300+ workshops and technical content, perform risk assessment programs such as Windows Desktop Risk Assessment Programme (WDRAP) and engage alongside customers on end user operations and migration programs as subject matter experts.

The Agenda

Application compatibility

The single biggest blocker of client migration. This session will cover the common pain points, available tools and the importance of your approach and methodology.

App-V 5

This session will introduce the benefits, usage cases, management and technology behind the latest version of the application virtualisation technology.

User State Virtualisation

This session will review the current user profile choices focusing on benefits, risks and best practice. We will discuss UEV, Roaming Profiles, Folder Redirection and Offline Folders, providing a clear picture of the available options for managing user state data.

Deploying Windows

This session will cover Image Engineering and Rich Client Deployment for your Windows client platform. You will gain familiarity with imaging strategy, challenges, design, creation and deployment. The session will also include a breakdown of the available toolsets (including MDT 2012 Update 1), benefits and usage.

Thanks and we hope you enjoy the day

Mark Sewell – UK PFE
