Friends, hackers, researchers, and digital disciples of Dog the Bounty hunter – lend us your skills. Actually, no need to lend them, Microsoft is now offering cash to those who report certain types of vulnerabilities and exploitation techniques.
The new bounty program, launching June 26 and detailed at the Microsoft Security Response Center, will offer up to $100,000 for identifying a “truly novel exploitation” built into the Windows 8.1 Preview and up to $11,000 for critical vulnerabilities that affect Internet Explorer 11 Preview on the latest version of Windows.
Check out Microsoft’s Security Research & Defense blog for a detailed technical post and a description of the preferred structure for submissions by the bounty program’s head judges. From there, you can find a bounty of reading about the program, security, and even some frequently asked questions.
