Tuesday’s Bing home page took us thousands of miles – and centuries – away with a looping video of fog rolling over the Machu Picchu ruins in Peru.
The Incans built this mountain city, considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World, around 1450. Its construction appeals to visitors as much as its location, as no mortar or modern tools were used to create this masterpiece of craftsmanship. It is slowly being restored.
After occupying it for a century, the Inca abandoned Machu Picchu when Spanish conquistadors arrived in what is now Peru. In 1911, American explorer Hiram Bingham discovered this hidden city and revealed it to the world.
Check out the Bing home page and explore Machu Picchu at your own pace, without ever having to take any of the arduous steps up.
