Premier Field Engineer (PFE) - System Center (SCCM and SCOM) GBS Switzerland is looking for new talented engineers with strong technology background and customer service passion. We need a PFE Engineer on System Center (SCCM and/or SCOM). Premier Field Engineering (PFE) Mission Statement Premier Field Engineering (PFE) provides technical leadership for Premier customers around the world to promote health in their IT environments through onsite, remote and dedicated support services. As part of Microsoft’s Customer and Support Service (CSS), PFE is focused on the Operations Phase of IT services based on Microsoft Technology. What does this mean? The purpose of this Senior Premier Field Engineer (PFE) position is to provide customers with reliable technical solutions to the complex integration problems associated with business solutions built on the Microsoft platform. The position supports a diverse variety of technical solutions built with Microsoft technology and products. Typical tasks performed in this role include specific problem isolation and correction, user mode debugging, supportability reviews, performance tuning, application stability troubleshooting, code reviews, porting/migration assistance, configuration management, pre-rollout testing, and general development consulting. The prospective PFE candidate should draw upon all resources at Microsoft, to advise and consult on the use of Microsoft technologies to avoid such problems in the future. PFE for System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) The Core role requires in depth knowledge in a number of the following technologies / areas: Experience in installation, upgrading and operating of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager 2007 R2 and SCOM 2012/2012 R2 or Microsoft System Center Service Manager 2012/2012 R2 PFE Engineers in this team specialize in System Center Operations Manager but also require experience in supporting technologies such as Windows Server Operating Systems including clustering, performance optimization and remote access Microsoft SQL Server Microsoft Active Directory Services, Certificate Services / PKI, Internet Information Server Experience with XML, VBScript and PowerShell Fundamental networking knowledge - IP, DNS, WINS, IP routing, network address translation Analytical troubleshooting and support experience Experience in the area of IT Service Management (ITIL / MOF) is an advantage Experience working in IT-infrastructures of mid-size and global customers. The following areas also are beneficial: As SCOM is touching potentially all other applications and services, knowledge of other infrastructure services like Exchange, Virtualization technologies, Citrix etc. will be beneficial System Center Orchestrator 2012 / 2012R2 PFE for System Center Configurations Manager (SCCM) The Core role requires in depth knowledge in a number of the following technologies / areas: Experience in installation, upgrading and operating of Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 R2 and SCCM 2012/2012 R2 PFE Engineers in this team specialize in System Center Configuration Manager but also require experience in supporting technologies such as: Windows Server and Client Operating Systems including deployment, clustering, performance optimization and remote access Windows Deployment Services / Microsoft Deployment Toolkit / USMT Mobile Device Manager Windows Software Update Services. The following areas may also be beneficial: System Center Orchestrator 2012 / 2012R2 A Premier Field Engineer (PFE) in general delivers Onsite proactive and reactive services to Premier customers for their technical infrastructure and development environment (based on the targeted expertise SCCM and SCOM) Delivery of transactional high qualified services (average duration: 3-5 days) in country and EMEA (technology workshops, health checks, Risk Assessments, Code Reviews) Long term engagements (3 month - 1 year) at one or more customers in parallel over a period of 3 months - 1 year While our key relationships are typically with our customer’s development teams, Premier Field Engineers will also find themselves working with engineering teams and architects, so need to be confident working at this level.
