The Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) 2014 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Orlando, Fla., wrapped up Feb.27, ending a week of wide-ranging demonstrations of the ways Microsoft technology is transforming the healthcare industry.
The conference showed off how Microsoft’s solutions are helping address some of the industry’s toughest challenges and opportunities, especially in areas of mobility and collaboration, electronic medical records (EMRs) system access and integration, health analytics, patient and consumer engagement, and governance and compliance.
Attendees saw how Windows 8.1, Surface and Office 365 devices, apps and services provide mobile tools and features enabling clinicians to quickly and easily communicate with care teams. These tools also help them access their full function EMRs from anywhere at any time.
Several Microsoft’s partners, including Omnicell and Predixion, demonstrated how they’re using Windows Embedded technology and Microsoft’s business intelligence and analytics capabilities to enhance operational performance in hospital settings.
The recipients of the Microsoft Health Users Group (HUG) 2014 Innovation Awards were also announced at HIMSS.
