For those of you that started in the Windows 2000 Server Active Directory, there was a tool called ADPerf (Active Directory Performance) to troubleshoot high CPU utilization in LSASS.exe.
Starting with Windows 2003 Server, there was a new tool called Server Performance Advisor to troubleshoot the high CPU utilization.
In Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2, the functionality was added to Perfmon as a “Data Collector Set” described in:
