Microsoft Joins the Open Compute Project
On Tuesday, Bill Laing, Corporate Vice President, Cloud and Enterprise announced that Microsoft is joining the Open Compute Project – a community started by Facebook that is dedicated to the open collaboration of engineering efficient hardware for cloud and high scale computing. As part of the announcement, Microsoft said it’s contributing the Microsoft cloud server specificationand its datacenter blueprints that power Windows Azure, Office 365 and Bing. As part of this effort, Microsoft Open Tech also open sourced related management software.
