Surface is now the official technology partner for We Make Movies, a Los Angeles nonprofit organization of filmmakers, reports Markus Weickenmeier, Surface manager.
“The power and portability of Surface Pro are perfect for today’s young filmmaker and the passion and community behind We Make Movies makes this a wonderful partnership,” he writes on the Surface Blog.
We Make Movies’ mission is to make the industry a better place, and it provides filmmakers with an “arsenal of tools: resources, knowledge and the support of a community of passionate people who want to make the work that inspires them,” he writes. Since the organization started in 2009, it has directly funded 18 films, and more than 50 shorts and six features have been produced after being developed through the group’s workshops.
The partnership adds to the movie magic that Surface can offer. “We have been working for several months now with digital image technicians, writers and producers that are discovering the Surface Pro as a great tool for today’s filmmaker,” Weickenmeier writes.
You have may have read about some of them, including the Diamond Brothers, Chayse Irvine, Amanda Lippert, who have all discovered that a tablet with the power of a laptop has a tremendous impact on the onset dailies and production workflow, he says.
