An update to the Xbox Music app for Android adds offline playlists so users can download and store songs to their mobile devices.

“Whether you’ve created the perfect playlist on Xbox One, Xbox 360, Windows 8 or online at music.xbox.com, you can now instantly listen on your phone, even if you’re not connected to mobile Internet or Wi-Fi,” Xbox Wire writes.

Also included in the update: Faster access to music from the moment the app is opened – “Just tap on the cover art for an artist, song or album to immediately start playing music” – and being able to play an entire collection on shuffle.

“Not sure what you want to listen to? Play your entire collection on shuffle to hear your favorites, one after another,” Xbox Wire writes. “You can also focus in on a specific type of music and play every song in your collection from one specific genre.”

Android users can get the Xbox Music app here. Last week, Xbox Music released offline mode for playlists and fast playback on iOS, and in December, a new Xbox Music preview app on Windows Phone 8 came out, providing a look at the music experience and design coming to Windows Phone devices.

The Xbox Music app works in conjunction with the Xbox Music Pass subscription. You can get a free 30-day trial on the Xbox Music Pass. A monthly subscription is $9.99.
