In much of the U.S., it’s finally starting to warm up, but for a few days there, many of you probably felt like you were living in Wednesday’s Bing home page.
It may look like Superman’s Fortress of Solitude, but it’s the very real, very cold, ICEHOTEL in Kiruna, Sweden. It’s a different experience every year, since the hotel melts come April, but an ice chandelier remains constant. Temperatures in the rooms vary from 5 below zero to 46 degrees. (For some of you, I’m sure 46 degrees right now would feel like a heat wave.)
Construction on the hotel begins every November – if the weather cooperates – and guests are welcome starting in mid-December. But shivering in luxury accommodations isn’t cheap. If you were to check in Jan. 11 for two nights, you’d have to shell out $740 a night.
