Skype was the target of a cyberattack on Jan. 1 that briefly gave attackers access to Skype’s Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as to Skype’s Big Blog. “We quickly reset the credentials used to manage these properties,” writes James Blamey. “No user information was compromised, and Skype’s service was not affected.”

For more information about the steps Skype is taking to help protect users’ privacy, be sure to read two recent posts from the Microsoft on the Issues blog. The first is about protecting data from government snooping and the second about reforming government surveillance.

To read Blamey’s post, head over to Skype’s Big Blog.
