Ask Varun Chhabra, and he’ll tell you that the rush to the cloud is one that must be taken with a dose of common sense.
“Like most children, I got a lot of (rarely heeded) advice from my parents,” Chhabra, a senior product marketing manager in Microsoft’s Server and Tools division writes today on the Server & Cloud Blog.
He writes that his father loved telling him that “the journey is as important as the destination.”
“I suspect that IT customers are wishing their vendors would also heed this maxim,” he continues. “Too often it seems that we vendors assume that customers are willing – and able – to directly jump to the end-state we’re selling: ‘Struggling to keep up with your business units’ IT needs? Just go to the public cloud!’”
