Now that Windows 8.1 supports scanning, people can capture images directly through Windows Store apps. When you choose to incorporate scanners in your apps, people can use their devices to easily retrieve photos and documents, which comes in really handy when your app requires signatures from a printed page, for instance.
As the Windows App Builder Blog reports, the digital versions can then be stored or even shared on social media. “You can customize how your scanning UI looks and feels to your users. You can even brand your app on the scan experience it provides, setting yourself apart from other apps.”
The blog gives great examples on how your app can use the new Scan Runtime APIsto scan documents and photos.
Head on over to the Windows App Builder Blogto get all the details on the new APIs, identifying scanners and drivers for your apps and finding out how integrating your users’ existing documents and paper-based processes into your service can increase your app’s value.
