When potential homebuyers, strapped by time or distance, can’t get over to a house or condo for a tour by their real estate agents, more and more agents are making visits possible by using Skype to show properties.
“It’s helping business run more efficiently and allowing Realtors to satisfy client demands more easily and cost-effectively,” writes Blake Shepard on Skype’s Workspace Blog.
Shepard shares some examples from those in the real estate business, including Justin Levitch, vice president of business development at RealLiving® at Home. Levitch wrote in the Inman News recently that the showings-via-Skype trend is happening for several reasons.
“The first few that come to mind are: increased buyers from overseas, decreased inventory forcing buyers to be more aggressive, and the abundance of affordable technology to bring the buyer an experience that is similar to visiting the property in person,” he wrote.
An increasing number of real estate purchases now involve “buyers who have never stepped foot in a house prior to purchasing” it, he wrote.
