“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire”– the second film in the wildly popular trilogy – hit theaters on Nov. 22. The trilogy was inspired by the gladiator games of ancient Rome, but in the futuristic “Hunger Games,” pre-selected children are the ones fighting to their death. “Hunger Games” fans are among the most enthusiastic out there, having “broken all sorts of social media records with their conversations about the beloved series,” said Internet Explorer Director of Marketing, Roger Capriotti. The IE team has witnessed much of the fan frenzy on The Hunger Games Explorer site they developed in conjunction with Lionsgate and RED Interactive Agency.

With The Hunger Games Explorer, fans can immerse themselves into the fictitious world of Panem, “track every development of ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire,’ including tweets, exclusive images and videos, and then share their thoughts and excitement with others around the world creating a global conversation,” wrote Capriotti when the trailers released in April.

“The Hunger Games Explorer is not only a place for fans to spark the conversation around Catching Fire, it is also a destination for us to continue to provide fans with new content, experiences and unprecedented behind the scenes access,” Danielle De Palma, senior vice president digital marketing, Lionsgate.

Fans will be happy to know they can experience The Hunger Games Explorer, regardless of what platform they’re using. It’s become a showcase of responsive Web design that features multi-touch and HTML5. It shines on Windows 8 with IE10, and on other modern platforms across the Web. “The resulting community allows users to interact and engage in conversations in a much easier, more interesting way across platforms and devices,” said Capriotti.
