On Thursday, Microsoft was named to the Climate Performance Leadership Index by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in recognition of the company’s commitment to climate change action and transparency in disclosing our carbon emissions.
CDP’s Global 500 Climate Change Report 2013 is an annual index compiled to highlight companies listed on the FTSE Global Equity Index Series that demonstrate strategies committed to improving environmental impact. This marks the first time Microsoft was named to the list.
According to the Microsoft Green Blog, “As part of its report, the CDP issues grades for actual performance in reducing emissions and this year Microsoft earned a top grade, an ‘A.’ The report also gave Microsoft a disclosure score of 96 out of 100. Both scores demonstrate Microsoft’s commitment and leadership among technology companies in reducing the company’s environmental impact.”
