This week in San Francisco, just a block away from VMworld, you’ll find another breed of enthusiasts – Microsoft Hyper-V and System Center technical experts. And you’re in luck, they also happen to be frozen custard enthusiasts. Sure, the area will be teeming with VMware loyalists. The more diehard the better as far as the folks at the Hyper-V custard stand are concerned. If you’re in town for VMworld, come by for a scoop of some of San Francisco’s finest custard and get the scoop on Hyper-V features and stats that just might surprise you.

According to a post on the Windows Server Blog, more than 70 percent of businesses now have more than one virtualization platform in their IT environment. For the IT professional, it’s an opportunity to set him or herself apart as someone who is familiar with more than one virtualization platform. And if you see the numbers, you’ll see that Hyper-V is the one to watch, with usage share growing 4 times faster than ESX/vSphere over the last three years, according to IDC data.

And here’s another stat to whet your appetite. Did you know that Hyper-V in Windows Server 2012 supports twice the physical memory, twice the number of active VMs per host and 32 times the maximum virtual disk size compared to vSphere 5.1?

Get the full scoop on the Windows Server Blog– or if you’re at VMworld in San Francisco, get it in person at 201 2nd Street from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
